PERSONAL. (UfECIAL TO THS FMSS.) GREYMOUTH, March 1". Mr arid Mrs B. Hooper (Millerton) are visiting Greymouth. Miss Millicent O'Grady, who has been visiting Greymouth, left to-day for Chris tchurch. Mrs M. Corcoran left to-day on a visit to Hastings. Mr and Mrs W. Toomev, who have been visiting Greymouth, returned today to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs J. Parker left to-day for Oamaru, where they intend residing. Mr and Mrs S. Lawn, who have been spending a holiday on Uie West Coast, returned to-day to Dunedin. Mr and Mrs W. Jones and Mrs hussell, vrlip have been visiting the West Coast, left for Christchurch yesterday. Messrs W. A. Flavell (managing director of the Westport Coal Co., Ltd.) and Crosbv Morris, E. C. Hazlett, and P. Black "(directors), who have been on b visit of inspection of the company's properties in the Buller district, returned to-day to Dunedin. Misses M. B. Neilson and J. Connell (London) ore spending a holiday on the West Coast. Obituary. The death occurred at Maimai «m Tuesday afternoon of one of the oldest residents of the Gri-y Valley, Mrs Mary Pugli, aged 90. Mrs Pugh was a native of Georgetown, Tasmania, and landed during the gold rush, in Otago, in 1863. In 1870 she camo to the West Coast, and had resided there ever since, going first to Granville, a mining town near Totata Flat. She is survived by one son and one daughter. She also has 19 grandchildren, 72 great-grand-children, and two great-grcat-grandchil-drcn. Grey Power Board. The Grey Power Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr J. Smeaton, prosiding. ' , The engineer reported that during the month 14 new consumers had been connected, making the' total 2580. The 11,000 volt line had been extended from Healey's Gully to German Gully, on the Blackball to Moonlight road. The consulting engineers, Messrs Vickerman and Lancaster, reported that work at the hydro works at Kaimata was proceeding well, and except for two wet days, work had been uninterrupted for the past month. Work at the dam in the Arnold river had reached the stage where the fear of flood damage was negligible, everything being well advanced. The dam should be completed in two months. Mr Greenslade stated that as there was a doubt in the public mind as to what the works had cost, it would be as well to stato that the total cost for the establishment of the works at Kaimata had been the contract price plus ten per cent, as all >wed by law. • The chairman said it was satisfactory that the ratepayers were not being asked for more money to complete the works. The contract price was £llß,000, which with ten per cent, added, would complete the works. Cobden Football Clnb. The annual meeting of the Cobden Football Club was held last evening, Mr T. Gilmour presiding over 'a good attendance. The balance-sheeta showed a credit of 2s Sd, and a surplus of assets over liabilities of £251 18s 6d. An apprentice 5 employed at Stratford Blair, and Company's sash and door factory, Frederick Webster, had two fingers badly lacerated through his right hand slipping on a saw, when ho was engaged sawing timber. Bowling. A team of Greymouth bowlers visited Reef ton yesterday, when a series of matches were played, Greymouth being the winners by 60 points to 55. The most exciting rink play was seon in the only case in which Reefton players prevailed, their team, R'issell, Noble, Nevin, and Mori (s) 22, beating Shallcrass, Haglund, \V. Scott, and Moss 00 21.
