IRISH CONCERT.

AID FOR NAZARETH HOUSE. BEST TALENT BECURED. The Irish national conceit, which will bo held in St. James's Theatre this evening (St. Patrick'* Day) is in support of a worthy object—the assistance of Nazareth Hcuse, an institution which i% at present in dire need of help. If for this reason alone, the concert would warrant liberal support, but an excellent and varied programme has been arranged which makes the inducement to attend all the stronger. It ia hoped with this entertainment to reestablish the Irish national concert in the place which : it held a .few. years ago in the hearts of the Christchurch Irish. The programme should make art instant appeal, for it will be Irish throughout in spirit and theme. The artists, who are giving their services free, are amohg the best which the City has to offer. Choral singing will he a feature of the entertainment, and for this specially trained choirs of boys and girls have been secured. They will give "O'Donnell Abu," "Tho Harp That Once," "Erin, the Tear and the Smile," as well us many other old favourites. Prominent among the soloists will be Madame Winnie Fraser ("For the Green" and "Let Erin Remember"), Miss Cecily Audibert ("The Kerry Dance"), Mr "Robert Allison ("Rose of Tralee"), Mr W. Toomey ("The Minstrel Boy"),- Mr J. Lockharf ("Phil the Fluter's Ball"), and Messrs F. W. Woledge (clarinet) find H. Fox (cornet). The Returned Soldiers' Orchestra will provide several Irish selections. Wholly dependent upon private subscriptions to help it carry on its work on behalf of the orphans and old people of the City, Nazareth House is meetincr with many difficulties at present, and should benefit considerably frpm tho concert. .The Sisters of Nazareth at present- provide, for 130 orphans and 65 old people in their various institutions, and support has of necessity fallen off considerably in the past year.
