CANTERBURY COLLEGE CLUB

After a most successful inaugural year, the 'Varsity Harrier Club held its annual meeting last night. The annual report showed an exceptionally good first season, and the total attendance of members at runs lxad been over 400. Seventeen official runs had been held, teams had competed, in the Canterbury championships and the Kennett Cup race, and a team had travelled to Dunedin in August to meet Otago University harriers in a race for the newly-presented South Island Inter-University College Harriers' Challenge Cup. Other events had been the club championship and the annual Canterbury .College steeplechase, a function the control of which had been handed over by the Athletic Club. The balance-sheet showed a small credit balance. Ofiieers for the coming year were elected as follows: —Patron, Mr R. A. Rose; president, Dr. H. G. Denham; vice-presidents. Dr. C, C. Farr, Dr. A. L. Haslam, Messrs L. A. Dougall, H. A,. Young, h. J. Darwin, and D. W. Bain; ciub captain, Mr L. S. Bambery; club vice-captain, Mr N. W. Mulvey; honorary secretary, Mr TV. E. Parrott; honorary treasurer, Mr T. E. Easterfleld; committee, Mr A. T. Anderson and Mr M. C. Brickell. It was decided that a feature of the club's activities this year should be physical drill once a week, and special week-night training which it was left in the hands of the committee to arrange.
