ACCIDENTS.
+ WORKMAN INJURED. IN A SERIOUS CONDITION. The Wan-ewa County Council's foreman, Mr J. W. Blanch, was found yesterday at his home at Birdling's Flat with a wound in his throat, and being treated by Dr. S. G. Traill, of Little River, was brought to the Christchurch l'ublic Hospital. His condition was then serious, and he was operated upon. A report received at i iate hour last night indicated that he . had made no improvement. DEATH FROM BURNS. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, March 16. Enveloped in flames from blazing wax, which had spilled over her, Pearl Cunnold, aged 22, of Sandringham, received fatal burns while working at the factory of Bock and Company, chemists, Dominion road, to-day. It is thought that the girl heated a tin of wax on a stove, and when the wax ignited she accidentally tipped some on to her clothing. She was taken to hospital, where she died some hours later. . CHILD DROWNED. (rRESS ASSOCIATION TELBGRAH.) ROTQRUA, March 16. A two-year-old Maori child, Adam Whakauc, was drowned in the Waititi stream this afternoon. Apparently lie wandered away while playing and .fell into the water. His absence was 'not noticed for a quarter of an hour, when his mother searched for him and made the tragic discovery.
