WEEK-END ROBBERIES.

On Saturday evenftfg groceries valued at about £2O were* stolen from Bishop and Clark's grocery store at the corner of Holmwood road and liossall street, and a baker's and confectionery shop in the same block of buildings, the Rossall Kitchen, was broken into and goods worth about £5 taken. Twenty pounds in money was stolon from Mr H. C. Barley's home in Tui street, Fendalton, on Saturday morning, while all the occupant's were away. Entrance was gained by the thief forcing a back door. A motor-ear, owned by the Rev. P. N. Knight, of Durham Street Methodist Church, was stolen from the Kink Tax id garage, in Chester street, on Saturday night, the thieves gaining an entrance by forcing a trap-door, in the main door of tho building. The main door was then opened. The ear was recovered at tho Bealey on Sunday, and the occupants,. two brothers named Coad, were arrested.

An extraordinary run of whitebait was reported in tho Waiinakarivi during tlio week-end. Large shoals of herring of more than average size were also observed; In one hour's rod-fishing one man landed over 100 herring.
