ATHLETICS.

EVENING MEETING. There were good entries and large fields at the amateur athletic meeting conducted by the Canterbury Centre at Lancaster Park last evening, but no exceptional times were recorded. Some good finishes in the 'heats of the 75yds handicap made the running interesting. The final was won by L. 0. Hean, starting off a Si yards handicap. The 440 yds races were keenly contested, but a southerly wind made going hard in the far straight. L. E. Smith and L. G. Willis Iran good races in the hurdles, but the 'Varsity man, E. 'Lunn, put up a very poor showing. Two good half-miles were run by T. G. Broadway (C.A.A.C.) and D. W. Bain ('Varsity) in the A grade and B grade relay, respectively, Broadway's finish enabling his team to win without much trouble. The following are the results:— 75 YARDS HANDICAP. First Heat —J. D.
