A LUNCHEON HOUR ADDRESS. To a.u audience of.-about 4.0 business men, Mr Walter J. Beasley, Australian representative of the -Poona and Indian Tillage Mission, gave a luncheon address in the Cadena Tea Rooms, yesterday, on "The Salesmanship of Christ." - Mr T. N. Gibbs, who presided, said that Mr Beasley was managing director of Youngs, A big shipping and Customs firm in Melbourne. He had given a talk in each of the four big centres and trie Auckland business men had asked him to repeat it. . Mr Beasley said that his business and theoretical training had shown him that the idea of most people—that religion and business were separated in watertight compartments—was quite erroneous. He had analysed the teachings of Christ and had found that they were vastly superior to all other teachings. Christ was the perfect Salesman. In the fourth chapter of John could be found the principles outlined in the modern Sheldon system—principles which Christ employed in His campaign of conversion. The money side of life, said the speaker,, was the least important, and there w*as a great need for development of the spiritual side. The Christian faith was either the greatest fake that had over been imposed on mankind, or it was the greatest truth. After the closest investigation he was prepared to stake everything on the Christian religion. On the motion of Mr W. L. Thomas, Mr Beasley was accorded a vote of thanks for his address.
