" 'The glorious sunshine yesterday added to the general holiday '' spirit that prevailed at the Addington Trotting Course, where a large crowd, including many from the country districts, attended the Canterbury Park Trotting Club's. Winter Meeting. The Prune Ministeiy the Rt. Hon. ,G. W. Forbes,' and Mrs Forbes attended' the:-.meeting and were the guests of honour at the stewards' luncheon. Mrs Forbes wore a beautiful frock' of black with tiny embroidered motifs in pastel shades, a black face-clotli coat trimmed .with t'uiV and a black felt hat with upturned brim of velvet caught with a small ornajrient of brilliants. WEDDINGS.

DORREJSN—MARTIN. • The .wedding jv'as.. celebrated yesterday afternoon; at St. John's Church* •liatiiner square, of Elsie' Ashfordj only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. J. Martin, of Belfast, and Neil, youngest son of tho late Mr affft Mrs James Dorreen, of Christchurch. The bridegroom, is well known in sports circles in Canter bury, being a member of the Merivale .Football Ciub, "and a Canterbury Rugby representative. He is also prominent in crickot circles, being a membei' of tit.: Albans Cfic-Ket CiuU, and ■ last season was included in, the Canterbury cricket team ■ for the Plunket Shield matches. 1 •

The church was decorated by frictids of ; the bride, with bowls, of- bronzo chrysanthemums- native shrubs. The bride, who was given away by lier_ father, wore an ankje-length trocK of ivory satin charmeuse, with long tight-fitting sleeves, finishing in' points over the hands, and a diamentO: ornament at the waist-lino. Her long net veil formed a train, and was held i n place by a. wreath of orange blossom buds, and she carried a shower, bouquet of primroses and cherry coloured carnations.

The two .bridesmaids, Miss Ethel Banks .and Miss Joyce Scanes, of Belfast, wore ankle-lengtli frocks of deep primrose taffeta, brocaded in cherry red, the waistline of each being defined bv a deep frill. Their small coatees Vi ere made of tho same material, and their wide . cherrycoloured telt hajts were .turned .up from the face, and caught with. diamente ornaments. Thov. wore cherry-red shoes and carried bouquets of autumn-shaded Iceland poppies. ; After the ceremony a reception was held at the Jellicoe Hall.
