SUMNER UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING HELD. The annual meeting of the Sumner United Sports Association was held last night, in the Fire Brigade Room. Present were: —Mr G. F. Allen (presi- . dent), Messrs P. Dick and L. H. Chapman (Athletic Club), J. Baiutord and L. Jones (Kugby football). H. J. .bailey and L. iia&=ett (lilesaving), J. O'Neill (Hie brigade), K H. Neville (tennis), and C. h. Allen, secretary (soccer). The annual report showed that two conferences had been held with the New Brighton representatives. Primary school cmldren had been defined as those under fourteen years of age, and would include the School for the Deaf. The cricket match had been fixed for February, and the athletic meeting for March. It was hoped to include women's hockey the Forensic Club's debate, golf, and primary school tennis. During the year four heavy lawn mowers had been bought, and consideration had been given to the adoption of Sumner colours. A Valuable Contact. Speaking of the year's work, the president said that the programme of matches had run very smoothly. The contests were providing a valuable contact between the two boroughs. Sport was being definitely encouraged toward a higher standard, and new friendships were being made. The balance-sheet showed a small credit balance. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Correspondence was received vrora the Sumner Bowling Club concerning borough colours; from the Civic 1 operation. concerning representation; and from the Sumner Borouch Council about improvements at St. Leonard's Park. It was stated that the cricket, tennis RujrVy. athletic and • howling clubs were favourably considering the adoption of a Sumner blazer of light and dark blue, with a gold stripe. It was decided that the delegates should discuss the adoption of borouah colours with their clubs, and report to a meeting in the first week ot April, 1931. Election of Officers. It was reported that this season, New Brighton had won eight points and Sumner sis. There were two matches to decide yet. The election of officers resulted &s follows: —Patron, Mr W. H.
