Tho secretary of tho Returned Soldiers' Association had told, him of these and there might bo others to be added to the list. Tho matter of providing Christmas cheer for tho families was left to a ladies' committee, working in conjunction with the Junior Branch, tho finance to bo provided by tho War Fund Trustees. Tho treasurer reported that the annual appeal had realised a net sum of £292 14s, details of which amount were: Women's auxiliary committee, £53 2s; Junior Branch, £l5B 6s; sale of ba<V oS > £ll4 Os 6d; competitions, £73 3s; donations, £2O 12s 6d; expenses, £126 9s. The financial statement showed a credit in the bank ot £223 17s Id. Accounts totalling £99 16s were passed for payment. The secretary reported that there had been three enrolments and two resignations. He had lectured to 850 school children in October, and in November had attended at St. Andrew's College. A letter was received from tho Hon. J. G. Cobbe, for tho Aeting-Primo Minister, stating that the Government could not make a grant of £SO per annum to the funds of the Sea Cadets. It was decided to make a grant of 30s to the Christchurch Competitions Society for prizes for recitations for boys who were school members of the League. It was decided that tho Sea Cadets be entertained by tho Junior Branch before Christmas.
