REGENT THEATRE. "Tlio Storm/' at present at the Regent Theatre, is different from other talkies that have recently been shown in Christchurch, in that it relies for effect upon a succession of really powerful "thrills." "ON YOUR BACK." Smart society goes in pursuit of superlative styles in the all-dialogue dramatic romance, "On Your Hack," to be presented at the Regent on Monday next. A much sought after but cynical and worldly-wise modiste advises her clients to "wear your brains on your back/' and her advice recoils on her own ambitions for her eon's advancement. He goes to college and it is there ho meets a girl who is eventually to cause a breach between mother and son. The girl becomes financially involved over the purchase of some gowns. The modiste demands payment. She introduces the girl to a man of wealth thinking that he will pay for the gowns bought on credit. Then comes the climax. It is a great shock to the mother to find that her plans are reversed am; that the boy is prepared to sacrifice the career nho had planned for him to marry the girl It is in these tense moments tha" Irene Rich reveals her greatness. That polished atar. 11. B. Warner, has a prominent part, which he plays with his usual ability and finish. The theme is a dangerous one, but ha 3 been well handled, and the picture is a, Bplendid entertainment. The box plans are at The Bristol Piano Company.
