ILLICIT PLEASURE RESORTS.

PLACES IN THAMES VALLEY. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —-BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) LONDON, No\ember 16. Since Viscount Byng, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, is determined to stamp out undesirablo night life in the West End, illicit pleasure resorts are springing up in the Thames Valley and other places within motoring distance from Piccadilly. Gambling, dancing, and all-night drinking have developed in at least 50 such establishments, and pretty young dancing hostesses keep the fun going. The resorts are usually richly furnished. The soitnclal continues because these places are outside the Scotland Yard area. and the local police lack the powers of search held by Viscount Byng's force.
