VETERAN CLERGYMAN.
ARCHDEACON BOYCE'S RETIREMENT. OritOAl OUB OWX COEEBSPOKSESJ7.) SYDNEY, September 11. •■With the retirement cf Archdeacon Boyce in November there will disappear from the active rank;; of the Anglican Church in Sydney one of its most picturesque personalities. In his sfith year he feels, Dke the well-graced actor, that he does not want to lag superfluous on the stage. If every lttau could maintain..the physical and mental vigour that characterises dear o.d Archdeacon Boyce in his- 86th year Boronoff would have to forget Uev-gland business so far as h "™J n beings are concerned. The G.O.M. of Svdney church .life is the type ol man "who persists in remaining young in snint even if he is old enronologicafly. One of his weaknesses is temperance reform; another is Empire I)a>. Each year with the regularity of clockwork Sydney is reminded of tho approach of Empir*? Day by Archdeacon Boyce's fetter in the leading morning newspaper, espousing the patriotic: cause. His letter, in fact, is* as regular in its appearance as Archbishop Wright's annual but futile protest against the opening- of the lloyal Show on Easter. Friday.
