CATHOLIC MISSION.

+ KICCARTON PARISH. A most successful mission, conducted by the Rev. Father Cab ill. C.S.S.R.; during last week, at." St. Michael's Catholic Church. Hornby, was concluded at 7 o'clock Mass yesterday, there being present about 150 persons, over one hundred of übom received HoTy Communion. At 10.10 a.m. Father Caliill opened a "mission at the Church of the Little Flower at Puriri street. Upper Riccart.on. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion and seating accommodation was taxed to the utmost. It is the first mission held at this .church, and the big attendance at ihe opening ;augurs well for a. most successful mission.. Mass was celebrated bv the Rev. Father T. lianli.han,' and afterwards Father Caliill preached on the privileges that Rieear-. ton Catholics enjoyed in having a mission- in their parish and oi' the blessings to he derived-from a proper making of the mission During the next week lie hoped that all the parishioners would attend regularly at" each morning's Mass and that they would take full advantage, of the opportunity' so rarely afforded to make a good mission. Last evening Father Cc.hill delivered a sermon' on "The Salvation of the Soul,"and stressed the fact that no matter what success might he enjoyed in'this: life it availed nothing if the main object of a happy Hereafter were not attained. A very str'mg choir, under the direction of Mr J. Hnbcridge, of Hawera. sang the usual mission hymns, ending up with the connrec.it'ion joining in in "Faith of. Our Fathers." Throughout the week Mass will be celebrated each morning.at 6.10. while evening devotions followed by a sermon will commence at 7.30.
