SUBURBAN SERVICES TO CEASE. PORT LINES EXCEPTED. [THE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, September 1»An announcement that all Sunday huburban services, except those between Christcljurch Lyttelton and IQvorcargill and Bluff, would be eliminated as from Sunday, September 24th, was made by the Minister tor Hailways, tlio Hon. \Y. A. Yeitcb, tenday. By way of recapitulation the Minister ' stated that when the wbole oi the train services were recently reviewed it was found that the bunaay suburban services were involving the Department in loss. It was at hrs proposed to eliminate those services once in the interests of economy. u order, however, to endeavour to pr' - serve the services to the people 01 tu districts affected, it was decided to gi them a trial at ordinary fares 111 order to see whether the loss could eliminated. ~ , _ The experience since the change made shows that this does not affor a solution of the difficulty, said the Minister.
