About 5850 bales were sold. There was a poor selection of merinos and a good supply of New Zealand sorts, with steady competition. Opening rates were confirmed. There were some withdrawals of slipeg owing to tho high limits. New Zealand lots Bold as follows:—Greasy crossbred*, Pakirs, top price Od (avorage 8Jd); W.'.ireka 9d <BJd). Hslfbreds, Settercairn Hid; Mount Gladstone IOJd (OJd). New Zealand scoured merino, Rsndco /T made 23d. The market was very firm for stylish quality wools, the competition for which continued to be keen from French, German, and -Japanese, and to a Ids* extent from the Yorkshire and American section of the buyers.
