FILM SUPPLY.

, —r—• THREATENED BOYCOTT. [THE PBBSS, Special Service.] WELLINGTON, September 8. What is going to happen Over the threatened boycott of New Zealand by certain American film producers seems very uncertain. Several of those connected with the business have freely expressed the opinion that the whole thing is ,"a bit of bluff,'' that there is no unanimity amongst American producers, and that there would be an ample supply of films even if some Eroaueers did endeavour to put the oycott into, operation. On the other hand some exhibitors have found that at present they are unable to make any contracts. No light was thrown upon the situation this morning when Sir Victor Wilson, of the Motion Picture Distri- , butors' Association of Australia arrived from Sydnev. He said that he had nothing to sav. but that his visit .is connected with the film war may be presumed. It will be recollected that he was in New Zealand a few "weeks ago negotiating with the Government .in the matter of the recently imposed : taxation. - In the meantime rumours are current of big; deals and amalgamations , II J Australia in the film business and of developments which may have farreaching effects in the Dominion. In °2 n "exion with this Mr Rutledge, the Wellington representative of the Fox Film Corporation, leaves -Wellington to-day for_ Auckland to, catch the steamer to Sydney, his departure being the result of an urgent cable message.
