Ward and Company, who has been spending a three months' holiday in Queensland, Sow South Wales, and Victoria. Mr F. B. Spencer, of Sydney, manager for Australia and New Zealand of the NVstlc and Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Co. (iuiitralasia), Limited. He is to spend a fortnight in New Zealand,, visiting the firm's branches here, including, the factory at Auckland. Mr F. W. Freeman of Christchurch, president of tho Canterbury Automobile Association, who has been visiting Honolulu, Australia, and the East. Mr It H. Parton, of the firm of Edwards, Dunlop, and Co., Limited, Sydney, who is on a business trip to New Zealand. Mr H. B. Post, of Akron, Ohio, of the Goodyear Rubber Co., U.S.A., who has been in Australia superintending the creation of a mechanical rubber goods factory there. He is to sail by the Niagara from Auckland. Mr C. W. St rack, of Oklahoma, a well-known professional wrestler, who hflis be on appearing in matches in Australia during tho last few months. Mr T. Bradshaw, president of the Massey, Harris Implement Company, Toronto, is a through passenger. Ue is accompanied by Mr It. GifTord, of the same firm. Mr Bradshaw has visited Australia for the purpose of completing an amalgamation between his company and the H. B. McKay Company. Mr J. IT. Blair. of the firm of Nimmo and Blair, Dunedin. PROGRESS LEAGUE. - * MEETING AT KAIKOURA. The animal meoting of the South Marlborough Progress League was held on Saturday afternoon. Present: Messrs W. Scott (president), G. E. .Gray, 11. Smishall, C. A. Jensen, F. H. Flower, J. A.' Borthwick, Q. Eaton, J. Davidson, A. Brown, A. Gooch (secretary),'and the Kov. P. Robertson. On the motion of tho president, » voto of sympathy was passed with tho relatives of the lato Mr A. Glenn. Tho balance-sheet, showing assets (cash) at £5 32s Bd, and liabilities i'li 3s, together with the committee's report, were presented, and on tho motion of Mr h\ 11. Flower were adopted. The treasurer reported that tho League had. a membership of 52. Mr Davidson recommended that; the now committee should impress upon the Government the necessity of starting railway works in Kaikoura. Mr ITlowor reminded members that this proposal was discussod at tho meeting held at Parnassus in June last, and he contended that tho engineer's residence now being erected in Kaikoura was a result of the meeting. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr W. Scott; vice-presi-dents, Messrs W. M. Acton-Adams and H. Smishall; secretary, Mr A. Gooch; treasurer, Mr C. A. Jensen; auditor, Mr J. Davidson; committee, Messrs G. E. Gray, G. Eaton, J. Davidson, F. H. Flower, J. A. Borthwick, A. Brown, R. Aitken, and the Rev. F. Robertson; with power to add. The president informed members that delegates from the Canterbury and Marlborough Leagues would be in Kaikoura next Saturday to inspect the railway line, and he asked that delegates be appointed to meet them. It was decided that all members who' could do so should attend the meeting. Mr Jensen brought up the question of tho likelihood of the banks raising the fees for the keeping' of accounts, and after discussion Mr Robertson gavo notice to move that Rule 26 bb altered to allow of tho closing of the League's banking account.
