OTAGO RUGBY UNION'S JUBILEE. The Jubilee of the Otago Rugby Foot.bal! Union will be celebrated in Dunedin from the 23rd inst to the 2ath inst. The following functions are being held in connexion with the Jubilee: On Tuesday, the 23rd, a smoke concert; Thursday, 25th, a ball; Saturday 27th a seven-a-side tournament and athletic events at Carisbrook, and on Sunday, 28th a church service in the Town Hall, Dunedin. The committee of the Union would appreciate seeing old players from all parte of the Dominion present at these jubilee celebrations. Full particulars are advertised. At Waikari on Saturday a match was played between a Canterbury Junior B team and the Hurunui Bub-X7nion Junior representatives, and after an even game resulted in s win for the latter by 6 points to 3. From the commencement of play the lighter Hurunui forward* adopted bustling tactics, which they continued throughout .he game, end it was their concentrated and sustained efforts that were the deciding factors. . RUGBY LEAGUE. CANTERBURY EXECUTIVE. The Management Committee of the Outer* bnry Rugby League met last evening, those present being Messrs W. Healey (chairman), L. Amos, L. Cox, P. Kirton, E. Yardley, W. Rogers, A. Drury, and S. M. Richardson 8 Woolston senior player, was granted a transfer to the Linwood Club. After a long discussion it was agreed to hold over until next meeting the question of the Thacker Shield competition. . It was agreed to send the senior - representative team to Greymouth on September 27th to play the West Coast there on t£e following day. Mr IS. Jones was elected to fill the vacancy on the Selection Committee caused by the resignation of Mr F. Sheahan. At a meeting of the Junior Management Committee, Mr J. Chick 'presiding, Mr A. Davis was elected chairman, vice Mr J. McQuillan (resigned). Hornby were declared the winners of the junior knock-out competition. It was decided to play the finals in all other grades, except in the schoolboys' com* petition, next Saturday. Marist third grade team was granted permission to visit the West Coast on September 13th, with Mr E. Dixon as manager, Saturday'! Games.
