UNEMPLOYMENT.
A LOCAL RESOLUTION. Over 200 unemployed gathered in Cathedral - square yesterday afternoon to hear an address by Mr Bryan O'Donnel organiser and secretary o* the Dunedin Unernployment Committee. With Mr P. H Petrie, secretary, Mr O'Donnel is visiting Christchurcli with the object of establishing a South Island organisation. At the conclusion of the meeting the following resolution was carried: —"That this mass meeting of Christchurcli residents views with alarm the fast-increasing employment wave throughout N ew Zealand, and urges the Government to take steps to put into operation works where men can be employed immediately. We are of the opinion that unless something is doue within one week, .Christchurcli unemployed nm" not guarantee not to take an alternative of serious character."
