NOMINATIONS FOR OFFICES. A ballot is being conducted by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce for tho appointment of a now Council. For tho 20 vacancies 26 nominations have been received. Voting papers must be handed in by noon to-day, and the result will bo announced at the annual meetiug on Monday eveniog Seventeen members of the present Council and nine new candidates are contesting the election Mr H. S. E. Turner and Mr A. 0. Wilkinson have been elected < president and vice-president respectively unopposed. • . The following have been nominated for the Council: —Messrs J. Anderson, iun., W. Bottrell, A. C. Bretherton. A. M. Burns, W. R. Carey, H. Chapman, T. N Gibbs. V. E. Hamilton, P. H. Harris, A. L. Macfarlane, J. 4a> Gibbon. E. W. Reed L. G. K. Steven, R. H. Webb, B. E. H. Wliitcombe, A. F. Wright J. N. Greenland (present members), W. S Newburgh, Norton Francis, 11. G. Livingstone, H. R. Best, W. S. Mac Gibbon. A. E. Kincaid, F. G. Dunn. H). M. Chrystall and K. W. Robinson (new candidates). Mr Norton Francis is the sitting president.
