Field pipe draining had been done in the North Park, and tho cultivated area near the tennis courts had been drained. Miss Victoria Sommers had presented some seeds from Samoa, and Mr Taylor, Slater street, had given a collection of valuable gladioli. Tho report wa3 received aud it was decided to thank Miss Sommers and Mr Taylor. The Gardens and Parks Committee recommended that a pedestrian pathway be constructed on tho eastern side of Victoria Lake to the Armagh street gates on the southern sido and following tho outlino of the present pathway, tho same to be of a width of six feet to be proporly formed and screened similar to tho recently re-formed pathway leading to tho Fendalton road entrance. Tho Curator had been instructed to lay a drain from tho hollow to the north of Victoria Lake with a view to carrying off quantities of storm water lying there, the expense to be partly defrayed from tho contribution of £ls by the Hagley Golf Club. Tho Curator had explained his reasons for planting American redwood in the horso paddock; the former trees practically had died out.
