BECKENHAM CLUB. The Beckcnham Cricket Club held its fourth annual meeting at tho Beckenham School, Mr J. 11. Shier presiding over an attendance of thirty-five members. Tho ' annual report and balance-sheet showed tho club to be in a sound position. There were sixty members and five teams had been entered in tlift Suburban Association competitions. Tho Senior B team had won the competition in its grade and the Senior A and third grade A had finished second. The Meliiuish Shield, awarded foi tho highest aggregate points of two teams in one club, was won by the club's Senior A and B teams. Tho Shier Cup for the most improved player was won by W. Lawaon, jun. During the season a pavilion for the use of tho club's teams had been begun and would be ready for use by the commencement of the coming eeasoii. Seven resignations were receivod and throe new members were elected. The statement of receipts and expenditure showed tho receipts to have been £74 Ss 6d and the expenditure £73 13s Bd. Asset® were set down at £73 6s 7d and liabilities nil.

The treasurers report stated that £2l 12s 6d was owing on lest season's subscriptions, and it was decided to write to mew bem whose subscriptions for last season were unpaid giving fourteen days' notice to pay the amount. Tho following officers were elected: Patron, Rev. J. K. Archer; president, Mr 'J. H. Shier; vice-presidents, Messrs G. Brown, J. Abbott, W. J. Hulbert, G. W. M. Keigkley, E. O'Connor. W. Tulloch, A. Johnston, J. Harris. H. T. Armstrong M.P., and H. W. Rogers; club captain, Mr J. Hartigan; deputy club captain, Mr S. Griffiths; hon. secretary, Mr li. Smith; treasurer, Mr S. Cawtheray; committee, Messrs S. Hand all, E. Evans, L. Carlyle, S. Walker, and S. Walls; delegates to Suburban Cricket Association, Messrs W. Lawson, S. Cawtheray, and L. Carlyle; selectors, Messrs S. Randall, E. Cuminings, and S. Griffiths; delegate to Sports Protection Association, Mr R. Smith. The date of opening the season was left to the committee.

It was decided to admit two boys from the Becltenham School free of subscription It was agreed 'to place on record the club's appreciation of the work cf Mr L. Carlyle.

SHIRLEY CLUB. The annual meeting of the Shirley Cricket Olub -wag held in the Richmond Park pavilion. Mr E. King presided over an attendance of thirty members. Before the business of the meeting was dealt -with a motion of sympathy with the relatives of Messrs P. W. Sharps arid W. Worrall was carried, members standing. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, Mr King congratulated the club on its strong position, both financially and numerically. The fine pavilion in which the meeting was held was » tribute to the work and energy shown by members of the committee. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £9 15s. Four new members were elected and thi-ee resignations were accepted. It was decided to grant free membership to two boys from each of the Shirley and Richmond Schools. > A motion was agreed to unanimously that the annual subscription be 85s for members over twenty, 30s over eighteen and under twenty, and 35s under eighteen, the Brat two amounts to bo reducible by 5s and the latter by 2s 6d if paid before I>ecerabor 81st next. New members must pay 5g of their subscription upon nomination. Mr King explained to the meeting that the City Council had advised the Suburban Association that no cricket could be played on public reserves until thc_ third Saturday in October, but a deputation had waited upon the Reserves Committee of the Council, and pointed out the hardship of this decision on cricket clubs. As a result of the deputation it was hoped that the parks would be ready for crjfket by the second Saturday in October.
