CRUELTY TO PIGS.
BUTCHER FINED. Cr-Bisa 4hsocixtiov yzlzobiv.) . TAIHAPE, September 5. Timothy ,Odea, a butcher, !f of Taihape, 1 was charged before Mr Watson, S.M., yesterday; on the information of the .Society for the Prevention o£ Cruelty to Animals with cutting the snouts of ninety pigs with an' instrument called a "hog nose cutter." Defendant and his two assistants were inexperienced, and the snout in many instances was cut off to the .bone. A fortnight later many of the animals were still suffering. The Magistrate said that the . evidence proved conclusively that proper care had not been taken, and that instruments with a blunt and jagged blade had been used. The defendant was fined £3 and costs £5 Bs.,
