FOOTBALL.

RUGBY; TO-MORROWS MATCH. WELLINGTON V. CANTERBURY. Greafl interest is being evinced in the anmial fixture betwoon the old rivals, W«llluf ton and Canterbury, particularly In view c( the fact that the northern team are now the holders of the Uonfurly Shield. The game should provide one ot the best exhibitions of the open passing game seen here tor a considerable time. The Wellington team contains two of the most outstanding figures in Hugby history in this country in Cooke tind Nlcbolls. Both have scored over 100 points for New Zealand, and may, with Lawton, Australia, and Spong, Great Britain, be classed as among the truly great figures In Rugby. Welling' ton bavo also young players ot great promise In Page, an ex-Southlftnder who matured in England, and In Ball and Foley, whose appearance will be watched with great interest. The Wellington forwards are evidently an outstanding pack, tor they held tliu formidable Southland vanguard, who were reported to be unbeatable. In McLean, Coulston, Jessep, and MoPhsrson they have tireless and vigorous forwards. Canterbury have been training hard, and will no doubt play one ot their usual brll llant games at headquarters. Although the inside backs may not function as well as tho three-quarter line, there Is every reason to believe that nice concerted play will be seen, as most of the rearguard have had plenty of football, and are in good condition. Lilburne, at centre-three-quarter, will bo given a lot of defensive work to do, and he should be equal to the occasion. The home forwards may not be quite up to their opponents, but if they play anything like they did against the British team the result should bo very close. JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVES.
