SHOOTING ACCIDENT.
DAMAGES AWARDED. fTHE F&BB8 Special Service.] AUCKLAND, September 4. A claim for £2OO for injuries received in a shooting accident nearly two years ago was made in the Magistrate's Court. Plaintiff was Arthur Eric McDonald (Mr Matthews) and defendant Theodore Morris ' (Mr Schramm). Mr Matthews said the mishap oo curred on October 29th, 1928, at the residence of Morris. Defendant was a Territorial, and was cleaning his military rifle, when it accidentally digcharged, with a result that one of plaintiff's legs was shattered by the bullet. The leg was amputated, and plaintiff was in hospital for two periods. The claim was only for a small figure owing to the friendship of both parties, and on account; of the small means of defendant.
The Magistrate, Mr McKean, said he considered the claim to be a very moderate one, and gave judgment for the full amount with £l4 13s costs.
