NIPPON YUSEN KAISHA LINE.
IMPROVED AUSTRALIAN SERVICE. A. H. Turnbull and Co. have received advice from their principals that the Nippon. Yusen Kaisha Australia Line is now to be maintained by larger steamers than hitherto employed, and will in future be operated by the steamers Kitano Maru, Atsuta Maru, and Mishima Maru. The first of these vessels is due to arrive at Brisbane to-morrow; they are each of 8000 tons, and are all wellequipped and comfortably-accommo-dated boats for tropical sea travel. They are also of a good turn of speed (15. knots per hour), enabling passengers plenty of time for sight-seeing at ports of call on the way, viz.: Thursday Island, Davao, Manila, Hong-Kong, Nagasaki, Kobe, Osaka, and Nagoya. The final port is Yokohama. These steamers are well equipped for various climatic conditions, particular care having been bestowed upon lighting and ventilation. With a few exceptions, all first and second-class state rooms are outside rooms, with portholes opening direct on the sea. There are 3 few single-berth rooms, but the majority are two-berth rooms, and afe comfortably equipped and unusually roomy, which provides for comfort. They have spacious promenade decks, thus offering every facility for deck sport during the voyage, and all public rooms aro tastefully decorated. The dimensions of the Kitano Maru are as follows: —Tonnage, 8000; length, 474 ft, breadth, 55ft; depth, 31ft; built at Nagasaki. Passenger accommodation is provided for about 89 first-class, 32_ second-class, 20 third-class, and 100 steerage.
