SUPREME COURT. WEDNESDAY. (Before Mr Justice Adams.) IN DIVORCE. Stanley George Harwood petitioned for # divorce from Maude Francos Isubelle Harwood. Percy Allan Williams was charged that on August 81st, 1980, at Christchurch, he did brftak and enter the dwelling-house of Annie Sutherland and commit the crime of theft; further, that on August 14th, at Christchurch, BURWOOD. The - Burwood School Committee met on Monday. Present —Mr Robinson (chairman) and Messrs H. Reaby, J Cussack, W. Reaby. W. Rowlands, R. Peters, and the headmaster. The headmaster's report stated that the roll was 132 Hnd the average attendance for the past four weeks 116.7In order to maintain the grade of the school an effort would be required to secure regular attendance. Dulieu was elected chairman and Miss Helen Fiecken secretary It was dedTded to hold the annual show in September It was announced that Miss E Ward-Smith would present a tronhy for most points at the show, and that Mr G. H Ward would zive a prize for children's gardening. The committee also decided to award trophieß for most points in the daffodil and home | industries sections. William Charles Chapman, 18 years of age, pleaded guilty to the theft at Hawarden, on September Ist, of £lO, the property of Daniel O'Connell. Constable Keaneally, of Waikari. said accused was employed by the Forestry Department at Medbury. He had gone to the board-ing-house at Hawarden and tried to borrow money from O'Connell, who was under the influence of liquor at the time. However, when O'Connell went to bed he folded up his tronsers and placed them under his pillow, with the money in tbe pockets. Accused had bought a motor-cycle for about £9O, and wis behind with his payments. All the money had been recovered. < ' Accused was convicted and placed under the charge of the Probation Officer for two years.
