Tho principal attraction was the ' Canterbury clay bird championship, tho conditions of the match being 21 clay, birds off ■ an 18 yards rise, the winner to receivo a gold medal valued at .5 guineas and GO..per pent, of the-sweepflt'ake. There waa a good attendance of . shooters, including -; representatives of clubs from Tiinaru to Rangiora. Includcd'among the competitors was I*. No competitor put possible. . ■ ' Following tho championship a £SO open clay" handicap ' was held, gjid .n this three shooters—T.. Gordon, J. (Winchester, and R. B. Mcllwrick—tied with the possible of 17 birds and divided the .stake. Other matches were a twelve-bird' sweepstake, which was divided by T. Gordon, S. H. Anderson, and I. G. Fairclough) to present the chainpionship prize. Mi Fairclough referred to tho success that had attendod Methven shooters in annexing both the' New Zealand and Canterbury clay championships, and heartily ; cpngratulated "them. He presented T. S. Harrison with the gold medal, which he-s%id ,>vas a , reward, well earned after rpueh .consistent shooting.
