RAILWAY COMMISSION.
REPORT EXPECTED THIS WEEK. The Railway Commission is expected to place its report Beforfc the House this week as. when the Com-' mission was eet up, it was asked to present its findings during the' ' first week in September. Railway officers anticipate that it will contain some far-reaching recommendations, which may . presage , oig ohanses in the administration of the Railway Department. . It will almost certainly deal with branch lines . and two in Canterbury/ the Evreton-Bennetts. and the Spring-burn-Mt. Somers lines are being kept open pending the recommendations of the Commission Twice already orders have been given to close th'e lines, but residents of these districts haviftg protested, they are still running oh full time-tables.
