In the national tennis doubles championships at Brookline, in the quarter finals today, Miss Edith Cross and \V. Allison defeated Miss Eurothy' Workman and Jack Tidball 6-2, 6-3. Miss Betty Nuthall and G. M. Lott defeated Miss Marlowe and G. Vines 6-4, 6-1. In the semi-finals Miss Marjorie Morrill and Francis X. Shields defeated Miss Nuthail and G. M. Lott 6-2, 6-4. Miss Cross and Allison defeated Miss Corbiere and Frederick Mercur 6-3, 6-4. Miss Edith Cross and Allison won the National mixed doubles, defeating Miss Marjorie Norill and Frank Shields, 6-4, 6-4. In, the clinching series for United States championships, in the final of the. women's .doubles, Miss Nuthall and Mrs Marlowe defeated Miss Sarah and Miss Dianne Palfrey 6-4, 6-3. In the final of the men's doubles, Lott and Doeg defeated van Ryn and Allison ft-6, 6-3, 4-6, 13-15, 6-4.
MATCHES AT FOREST HILLS. (Received August 81st, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, August 30. At Forest Hills, Vines and Keith Gledhill defeated Lee and L. A. Godfree 6-3, 6-2. Ellsworth Vines (California) defeated F. 0. Perry 8-6, 10-12, 6-2. Sidney Wood («ew York) defeated J. 8. Oliff 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. At Forest Hills Wood and Neer defeated Olliff and Perry 6-3, 7-5.
