CLAY BIRD SHOOTING.

METHVEN CLUB. • Fino weather conditions prevailed on Saturday, when the Methven Gun Club held their usual shoot. A nor'-weßt wind blew in fitful gusts for part of tho time, making shooting difficult. Tho shoot commenced with a six clay bird handicap, for Mr T. S. J. Doherty's trophy, which was won by T. S. Harrison, who had tied with A. McLeod, the latter missing his third bird in the shoot-off. The stake was divided. The next match was a 12-clay_ bird handicap sweepstake, for a trophy given by Mr B. Perry, Ohristchurch. This also resulted in a tie. The best scores were:— O. A.
