MINING STOPPAGES.

FIVE IN FIVE WEEKS. Since work was resumed at the mines on tho northern New South Wales coal fields, after 15 months* idleness, stoppages have taken placo on an average of one a week, states the "Sydney Morning; Herald" of July 9th. The resumption took place Ave weeks ago. i'ivo strikes have occurred sinco. The most important stoppage occurred on the Bth, when about 200 miners employed at Aberdare Central went on strike, because the management refused to concede certain demands made by the wheelers. The employees at Aberdare and Aberdare Extended collieries immediately ceased work m sympathy with the strikers. As a result about 1550 employees were idle. AUSTRALIAN QUOTATIONS. The hides market is irregular, and has generally declined a full farthing excepting for special linos. LONDON WOOL SALES. LONDON, July 16. At the wool sales 7473 bales were offered, including 4563 from Kew Zealand and about 6645 were sold. There was ft moderate selection of all descriptions. BLENHEIM STOCK SALE. . .(srsciAit xo 'ikb rasas.) BLENHEIM, July 17. The fortnightly Blenheim stock sale saw very little change in the market. The yarding consisted of 609 fats and 457 stores, and the quality on the whole was poor. Very few stores were sold. , ' Ewes brought from 10s to 20s, and wethers from 17s 9d to 82s 9d. The latter price was the highest given at the yards for some considerable time, and was paid for one magnificent wether. i A fair number of lambs were yarded, and these realised from 13s to 20a. Little interest was shown by buyers in the small yarding of stores. Ewes brought ! from 6s 3d for a small forward line, to lis 6d for a pen of failing-mouths. Wethers found no buyers, and a pen of 25 was passed in at Bs. A big percentage of the store yarding was mode up of wether hoggets, but only one pen was sold, bringing ss. TEMUKA STOCK SALE. The fortnightly stock Bale waa held in i'emuka on Tuesday when the ©ntry was below the average. For tha most part stock sold on a par with values ruling a fortnight ago, although there was a sharp rise m-ate value of nizs.
