MUNICIPAL BAND.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual mooting of the Municipal Band was held recently, when there was a full attendance of twenty-eight members. The chairman of the band committee, Mr J. Fisher, presided. The committee's report congratulated the conductor and members on having made the year a successful one. The credit balance, though small, spoke highly for tne energy put forth. They had gone through a strenuous year in collecting funds for the contest, and for new uniforms and instruments. The attendances at practices had been satisfactory and well maintained; the average at all practices had been 21. Appreciation of the work of the conductor and thanks to the supporters of the band and to the honorary collectors were recorded. The balance-sheet showed a balance to credit of £6 16s 2d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The report of tho conductor (Mr J. Noble) set out that the result of the year's musical progress must be as gratifying to the members and supporters of the band as to himself. When he resumed charge a year ago the band was at a low ebb musically, but the members had rallied, and had been able to present a very creditable combination at the Dunedin contest, lie hoped that the next contest, at Wellington, would show the band as champions of the B Grade. It had been a pleasure to work with such an enthusiastic and hard-working eomnnttee, and he thanked the members for their co-operation. Ho also expressed Ins jrrateful thanks to their valued secretary, Mr B. B. Hean, and to the librarian, Mr E. Withell, and said that the band was extremely fortunate in having their services. Mr Hean'a efforts had been instrumental in raising the band to a stable and healthy condition. Officers were elected as follows:Patron, The Mayor; president, Mr W. Deans; vice-presidents (all the previous vear's vice-presidents were re-elected); conductor, Mr J. Noble; bandmaster, Mr J. Campbell; secretary, Mr B. B. Hean; treasurer, Mr M.
