The Australians made a bad start iu the match with Yorkshire, Wood full and Bradman being sent back to the pavilion with only seven runs scored Neither Ponsford nor McCabe was trtppy against the fast bowlers, Robin' eoii and Dennis. McCabe, however, hit fire fours in his first 22, and added tiro more before being brilliantly caught in the slips. Three , were then down for 65. Ponsford and Jackson batted stubbornly until lnnt'h. The first 100 took two hours, and Ponsford reached 50 in 150 minutes. The Victorian then batted brightly, hut Jackson was very slow. Ponsford topped his third century of the tour in 210 minutes After an uncertain start he had played with perfect confidence. With the total at '2Ol, Jackson went out leg before. His was an indifferent tunings and flatttered the bowling, which often invited punishment. Ponsford's innings ended when he returned a hot one to the bowler. He had batted for 265 minutes, and hit 13 boundaries. A'Beckett aloue of the others offered any resistance. (Beceived July 4th, 1.5 a.m.) LONDON, July S. A quarter of an hour's play this morning ended the Australian Innings, which had lasted 315 minutes. Walker jumped out to Bliqdes and was easily •tamped. A'Beckett carried his bat.
