ROAD CONGRESS.
INVITATION TO NEW ZEALAND. HIGHWAYS ANP TRANSPORTATION. In a circular the National Automobile Chamber of Commerce, New York, asks that New Zealand should send at least one highway official to the Sixth International Road Congress, to be held in Washington from October 6th to 11th i The circular states: We believe you appreciate the part which motor transportation and highway construction play in the oconomio progress of all modem nations. You can encourage highway contructlbn in New Zealand by making certain that New Zealartd sends at least one high way official to tho Sixth Internationa! Boad Congress to be held in Washing ton, D.0., October 6th to 11th, 1930. This congress, held every three years in a different country, will bo under the auspices of the Government of the United States, which has sent an official invitation to the New Zealand Government. This invitation has not been accepted. The official delegates representing Governments will be taken on a two weeks' tour of American highways with all expenses paid by our Highway Education Board. Funds for this tour have been provided by the automotive and allied Industries in the United State#. We have provided a place for a Now Zealand delegate on this tour. We hope toe motor Industry ana motoring organisations in New Zealand will urge the Government to send at least one delegate. This delegate should be a highway official and engineer. He will have an opportunity to study motor transportation in the. country where it has reached it» highMt adaptation. He will learn of the latest and most successful developments in highway construction.
