TRENTHAM NOTES.

[THB PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, July 8. Track proceedings were very quiet at Trentham this morning. There was no jumping and the work comprised merely that of a routine order. Odin has arrived, and has been taken over by J. W. Lowe until J. Williamson returns from fiis trip to Sydney. Maori Boy, Lady's Boy, and Mountain Guide have arrived from Auckland. Mountain Guide's late rocord is five consecutive seconds followed by a win at Waipa on Saturday. This indicates improvement, and he should get into the money at Trenthani. True Blood, Helium, Mangani, Marble King, Prince Lu, Luminary, Lucesß, and Master Lu are due to-morrow. It was understood that H. Gray was to ride Mendip in the Wbyte Handicap on the opening day of the Wellington Meeting, but the latest is that he will be on Best Friend. Best Friend was ridden bv Gray when he won a double at the Hawke's Bay Meeting last month. Still it was only hack company, and even allowing for substantial'improvement his record is not nearly so good as that 'of Mendip. The latter will now be ridden by B. H. Morris.
