TROTTING NOTES.

On the Maheno coming from Australia is an aged bay stallion by First Voyage that is to join W. J. Tomkinson's Addington stable. The newcomer will race in the nomination of Mr G. J. Barton, but his ability Is unknown. Possibly, like the remainder of the First Voyages, he will prove a more than useful trotter. Prince Pointer and Logan Park are in regular work under W. J. Tomkinson's care at Addington, and both are being given a'keen preparation in view of the August Meeting at Addington. Concliff, who showed a lot of speed earlier in the season, but had to be fired later on, is still in the paddock, and there is no prospect of him racing for some time to come. Elzcar is still running out, but she may be brought in in time for the big two mile unhoppled trotters's races to be decided at Addington in November. The latest American files bring news of the death of Mr J. Markey, who, under the pen-name of "Marque," was regarded as the greatest writer on trotting affairs in America. He was 63 years of age. Some time ago be received a broken arm, and just when he was well on the road to recovery he fell and broke his hip. Not endowed with good physique, the shock proved too much for him, and he died on June 2nd.
