SALVATION ARMY.

TRANSFERRING TO NEW PREMISES.

The Salvation Army Headquarters for the Canterbury and West land Division, after occupying premises at 136 Armagh street for over twenty years, will transfer to a commodious suite of offices in the new Regent Theatre buildings next Monday. This move has been prompted by Commissioner Cunningham, the head of the Army in New Zealand, and it is considered that the centralisation which will result should be a great asset. The lease of the Armagh street offices was held by Mr T. E. Fraser, formerly well known in Christchnrch, but now resident in London. In the old days he printed the organisation's official journal, "The War Cry," and when he left New Zealand he disposed of his holding. It was taken up by the Army, but its term has now elapsedThe executive offices will accordingly b(> transferred to the new premises, which have been secured on conditions advantageous to the Army. The suite is not yet quite ready for occupation, but Brigadier Burton, the Divisional Commander, hopes that the necessary work will be completed by Monday. At the same time the Samaritan work and book departments of the organisar tion, which were previously housed in Armagh street, have been separated from the Divisional Headquarters, and now occupy suitable premised in Manchester street*
