Taylor, jun It was decided to hold the Canterbuiy championship* in the Civic Theatre on the 38th inst. and that entries should close on the Monday previous It was agreed. that the second novice tournament be held towards the end of August. It was decided to make application to the Council for the New Zealand championships for 1981. It was resolved that a letter be forwarded to the Wellington Boxing Association expressing keen appreciation of the great assistance rendered by it in. connexion with the last tournament, which so materially aided in its outstanding suocess. The cash statement was presented, showing a credit balance to the current account of 2181 4s lid. The question of holding a big tourney in August or November was held over nntil the next meeting of the committee. NEW RULES MADE. The State Athletic Commission, as a reply to public criticism on the recent epidemic of fouls, has ruled that henceforward all boxers will wear approved protective devices,, and if a fighter should be struck a low blow he will be awarded that particular round, but if he eannot rise he will lose the bout on a knockout to hi* imminent.
