THEFT OF CLOTHING.
* (VRBSS ASSOCIATION TELEQBAM.) WELLINGTON. July 2. A fireman, who deserted from the Kia Ora with the intention of settling in New Zealand and bringing out his wife, came before the Magistrate today charged with desertion and the theft of a suitcase and its contents. He said that he took the suitcase to keep himself respectable-looking while finding a job, and intended to return it. Mr E. Page S.M. ; remarked that he waa a likely-looking young man, and gave him a chance to make good. Be ordered him to come up for sentence at any • time within twelve months if called upon.
