BOXING.
TOURNAMENT ON TUESDAY NIGHT. As the date of the Hughes-Carey zuatch approaches interest grows, and judging from the number •of seats already booked there should be a capacity house at the Caledonian Hall next Tuesday evening. The performances of Carey are so well known that it is unnecessary to reoount them. The following list of'Hughes's victories in the ring will give some idea of his calibre. He was the amateur light-weight champion of Scotland in 1926; in 1927 he won the Otago welter-weight championship, and in the same year defeated H. Kindly,' the New Zealand light-weight champion, and also beat Dago Nelson, welter-weight champion of New Zealand. He was also successful in his matches with Smitheran and Adams. In addition to this 10-round bout there will be five sparkling bouts in which the best of the amateurs will try conclusions. The box plan is at Lange's,'.United Service Buildings, where a limited number of seats may be reserved.
BOUT POSTPONED. * (PSXSS ASSOCUTIOX TMJSGBAM.) HAWERA, May 30. Owing to a severe cold interfering with the training of the Waitara boxer, Tommy Donovan, for his return bout at Hawera' with the Australian, Billy Grime, the bout Jhas been postponed from June 6th to June 13th.
