SIR GEORGE CLIFFORD.
WORK FOR SPORT OF RACING.
Beferenee was made to the valuable Work done tot racing in New Zealand by Sir George Clifford, by the chairman of the Canterbury Joekey Olub (Mr H. A. Knight), In the course of his remarks at.the annual meeting of tho Club yesterday afternoon.
"The racing world of New Zealand," Mr Knight Bald, "is the poorer by tho death of several connected with the turf—notably Sir George Clifford. He was, as you all know, a successful breeder and owner, practically only racing horses bred by himself. His work as president of the New Zealand Easing Conference will, I think, always stand as his memorial."
