MOTORISTS WISH HIM GOOD HOLIDAY.

Members of th« Canterbury Automobile Association Met last evening In the C.A.A. rooms to say farewell to their president, Mr F. W. Freeman, who Is leaving Christchurch shortly for a three months' tour of the East. Both Mr and Mra Freeman were the guests of honour.

Mr W. B. Caroy, who presided, said that all members of the Association Would regret Mr Freeman's departure, but he would take with him their very bost wishes for & pleasant trip. Both Mr and Mrs Freeman deserved a rest, and no doubt they would bonoflt greatly. They were keenly interested In any matters that made for the general good of the community, and did not spare themaelvos in their efforts to assist any good object. Mr Freeman had been president of the Association for two years.and a member of the Council for a considerable time. The Association extended its best wishes for a pleasant and profitable holiday. Proposing the toast, "The Guest of the Evening," Mr F. W. Johnston said that Mr Freeman had always done his best to further the interests of the community at Urge He was an example of the saying that "when some work is required urgently, the busy man is the most suitable for it."

In reply, Mr Freeman said that ho was exceedingly proud of his position as president of the 0.A.A., which had a vast region under its control. Such an Association wbb a driving force in the affairs of New Zealand. It stood for the "greatest constituency in the Dominion." He hoped to gain a large amount of knowledge of motoring and general traffic while in the East-Infor-mation that would prove valuable on hi* return.

The toast,. "The South Island Motor Union" was proposed by Mr B. Twyno* ham, Mr A. E. Ansoll, M.P. (president) replying. Dr. W. H. Simpson proposed the toast "Kindred Associations,'' aad Mr J. Passmore (president of the Otago Motor Club) responded. The toast "The Patron" (Mr A. Dudley DobBon) was proposed by Mr F. D. Sargent, Mr TDbbson replying.
