"EXTRAS*' MAKE DIFFERENCE.

Car owners can sometimes make their cars more comfortable to drive and more convenient to use by the addition of a few carefully selected extra fittings. The most important matter in the question of driving comfort is, of course, a good seating posi tion, as this is a point which not only affects personal comfort, but actual driving ability as well, because the driver who is well placed with regard to the controls is in a much better position to handle his car with precision than the driver who is sitting in an unnatural attitude. Adjustable Seat. A seat that is readily adjustable over a wide range is a great aid to comfort, whilst those who have cars with a badly arranged seat, but do not feel inclined to go to much expense to rectify the trouble, will often find that a wedge-shaped cushion will make all the difference between comfort and discomfort on a . long run Sliding seats, which are standard »n some cars, will be found a boon as they are instantly adjustable for correct leg reach and make entry and exit far easier Most car manufacturers now fit a driving mirror as standard, and this should certainly be regarded as an essential accessory. In the case of saloons it is often worth, while, in fact, to fit an additional mirror, so that a view is obtained both along the side of the «*ar by means of an external mirror and through the rear window with the aid of the one fitted above the windshield.

Travelling at night has a certain fascination and those who cover many miles in the course of a year after lighting-up time would do well to equip their cars with a good spotlight. It is very useful both for finding the way and for fog driving, whilst if it is of the detachable type containing a spool of flex it comes in handy for roadside repairs or adjustments. There are innumerable other accessories which make the driver's lot easier. It is surprising what a difference the fitting of a few "extras" seems to make to a car. Then there is the question of maintenance which must not be overlooked, and the owner who is keen to keep his car in first-class trim will find many things advertised to help him to make the'task lighter.

Body Polishes. Body polishes that give quick and lasting results, foot-pumps that save much backaching work in keeping the tyres up to pressure, special tools lor facilitating such jobs as ralve removal, the latest tyre repair outfits which contain everything essential for speedy and permanent repairs, quickdrying enamels or cellulose lacquers for touching up blemishes in the bodywork ; all these are but % few of the items that are a great aid in preserving the good looks and efficient working of a car. Motorists are, in fact, extremely well catered for in these days, and if 1 discretion is exercised in the purchase of a few good gadgets, motoring can be made far more pleasant on quite a limited outlay. WORLD'S NON-STOP RECORD. A stock • Chrysler 65 car, Mobiloil lubricated, recently broke all existing endurance records after 69 days and 68 nights of continuous running at the Avus track in Berlin, and was still going strong at 53,711 miles when a heavy fog stopped the run. When taken down after the gruelling run, all mechanical parts of the Mobiloil protected engine were found in excellent condition. , .
