ESTIMATES FOR HEATHCOTE.

COUNTY COUNCIL HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING.

Estimates totalling £11,530 for the dx ridings controlled by the Heatheote County Council wera approved at the annual meeting of the Council last evening. There were present:—Crs J. li. Danks (chairman), W. Kerr, J. H. Moore, 0. Flavell, J. F. Scott, A. G. Williams, and the county clerk (Mr J. H. McAuliffeV - The chairman congratulated Cr. Kerr on a reduction of id in the £on the rate levied in the Avon riding. The rate now stood at Id in the £. Avon was the only riding in which the rate had been reduced. Cr. Moore was congratulated on the greatly-improved financial position of the Bromley riding. In answer to a question fcyCr. Moore, the clerk said that the cost of administration was not included in the'estimates for the different ridings. Estimates for 1930-Sl. Excluding the estimated costs of metal, material, equipment, horses, cartage, and wages, the estimates for the different ridings were as follows: — Avon Biding. Kevcnue—£l697. (balance £737 10s, boundary lamps £7 10s, transfer from general account , Id, rate £952). Expenditures-Highways: Page's road £350, Wainoni road £150,. New Brighton., bridge £195, street lighting £BS; boundary roads: Kerr's road and Page's road each £SO. Marlow road £l5O. Mt. Pleasant Riding. Bevenue—£looo (contributions to works £250, transfer from general account £750). I Expenditure—Street lighting £l2O, Sumner road highway £lO, Edenhill road £7O, Eeservoir road , £250. Valley Biding. Bevenue—£B2s (balance £4B, boundary lamps £5, contributions to works £3O, general account rate £742). Expenditure—Hills road (highway) £l2O. Hillsborough Biding. Bevenue—£lß6l (balance £l7O, contributions to works £3O, general account rate £1661). Expenditure—Biver cleaning £4O, accident insurance £l2, street lighting £250, Lewis's drain £190; boundary roads: Chapman's road £lO, Opawa road £IOO, St. Martins road £SO; Hills road highway £l5O, Huntsbnry £230. .
