ILLEGAL SALES OF LIQUOR.

' W. liarakat pleaded guilty to two charges of illegal selling of liquor. The police stated that a constable had purchased wine in small quantities fr6m defendant at a time when several men and women were on»the premises being served. Defendant was fined £IOO on the first charge, and £2 on the second. W. Lawson, brewer, of Wakefield, was charged with selling beer, delivery of which was not made from the brewery depot or bottling store. In imposing the maximum penalty of £SO, the Magistrate said he was satisfied defendant was carting liquor to the relief camp, touting for orders, and selling wholesale and indiscriminately. "These relief camps are certaitly not brewers' benefit institutions, and X am going to take a very serious view of the ease." Harold Inwood, of Gowan Bridge, on two charges of selling liquor without a license, was fined £IOO and costs on each charge.
