PRISONERS SENTENCED.
.' (rasas msociatiok telegram.) DUNEDIN, May 2. Iu the Supreme Court to-day, Mr Justice Kennedy fined David Thompson, who had pleaded guilty to a charge Of carnal knowledge, £2O, in dffault two months' hartj labpur. John Joseph Whitty, for attempted carnal knowledge and indecent assault, tho offences being i-ommitted in 1927, was ordered two years' detention in the Borstal.
James ' Robert "Stanley Sutherland and George Frederick Sargeant were sentenced for breaking, entering, and theft. Sutherland received two years in the Borstal. Sargeant, on account of his youth, was placed on probation for years. William Robert Gibson, an ex-stu-dent, for' breaking and,entering, with intent to comtait,a,crime, was placed on probation and ordered to pay tbe costs of/the trial. 1. . Colin Rayriiond Wills, for indecent fissault on a female, was committed to the Borstal'for, two years.. Albert Robert Wilcoxsqn, for breaking, entering, and theft, was sentenced to two years' reformative • detention.
John Teer Patterson received a similar sentence for attempted carnal knowledge. \
