ARM AMPUTATED.
(raws usocutiom nuaßucJ PALMERSTON NORTH, May 8. Frederick Ellis, of Otaki, a passenger on the Napier-Wellington express yesterday, was badly injured in an accident at Linton station. Ellis was leaning out of the platform of the first carriage, apparently waving to friends, when his arm caught the fork of the tablet. The vietim was dragged from the carriage and hurled thirty-two feet down the line. He was removed to Palmerston North Hospital suffering from a mangled right arm, broken ribs, and a scalp wound. Subsequently it was found necessary to amputate the arm at the elbow. He is progressing satisfactorily.
