THE DEER PROBLEM.
♦- NEXT WEEK'S CONFERENCE. [THE PRESB Special Service.] ■WELLINGTON, May 1. Arrangements have now been completed for the holding in Christchurch on May 7th of tli© conference called by the Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon. P. A. de la Perrello) to discuss the deer problem. To-day the Minister said that a good deal had. been heard lately of the question of voting on the different proposals to be discussed at the conference. "I wish to Say," ho said, "that the oonferenco is being called for the purpose of having a Jul! discussion on the deer problem, the main idea being to obtain the views of the various interested parties as to the bvst way of meeting < the situation. There is, however, no intention of puting any proposal to a vote. I am most anxious to have th© views of all concerned on the question, and having heard them I will make recommendations to the Government on the future policy to bo adopted."
